Hi Jake,
Everything went really well on Saturday. This was the best one yet (it was our 3rd Open House). The food was terrific as well as the service from both Daniel et Daniel and Gatsby. All the staff were very professional, presentable (neat, clean uniforms etc.) and punctual. By 8.30 PM, you would never have known that we’d had almost 100 people through our home! Thanks again Jake for making our event a big success.

Dear Russ, I think that next year I can just stay home on Event day because I know that with D&D handling the Awards Dinner, the event will be flawless! Year after year, you and your team bring absolute excellence, talent and professionalism to the Canada Gairdner Awards. From the minute we start planning until the final paperwork is filed, you are on top of every detail. You help us pick and deliver a menu that delights our guests. You stay on top of the ever-changing critical minutia. You ensure that every guest is made to feel like a VIP. And you make me look like a star! Your talented chefs, led by Vel Sivapragasam, must be singled out for their incredible abilities. I just don’t know how they can cook dinner for 550 people and have every meal turn out perfectly. As well as your remarkable wait staff, headed by Steven Creelman, who serve the guests in what looks like a choreographed ballet. It is precise, efficient, skilled and quite beautiful to watch. Your team is unrivaled! And then Russell, there is you. I can’t imagine putting together a team for any Event without you. You are such a professional and a sincere pleasure to collaborate with. I, like many others in the City of Toronto, know of the high standards with respect to the quality of the food - which did not disappoint - there is a reason you are known as the best! What the general public might not know is that you have a great staff behind the scenes who work hard to accomodate whatever request is made of them and all the while working within their budget. First and Foremost Daniel et Daniel and yourself are at the very top of what you do and I cannot imagine the extravaganza that you have been a part of so for you to say that its left me speechless....I actually have tears now...
Our guests have not stopped raving about the food. They were blown away and so were we. My grandmother said the soup tasted exactly as she made it and it made her cry when she had it.
But its not only the food thats spectacular. Its you. You are not only a true Professional but you are witty, fun, easy going, super cool, personable and great energy to have around.

I didn’t think it was possible, but the overwhelming response is that this year was THE BEST holiday party EVER! I thought we couldn’t top last year, but apparently it’s possible! The food was outstanding – I am still receiving compliments today on the brisket, mashed potatoes, smokies and of course, the plates of bacon. I personally enjoyed the mini burgers late at night when I pretty much danced off the meal I had earlier – absolutely delicious! Dear Laura, Thank you oh so very much for making our wedding the most delicious, elegant event ever. I cannot tell you how many people came up to me and Omar during the reception and commented on how amazing the food was. Literally, from cocktail hour right through to the sliders/fries/grilled cheese/shrimp patties we had guests come up to us and say how delicious the food was. The hors d'oevres danced in our mouths. The beef was like butter, the pasta was rich and flavorful, the tomatoes were fresh, the mozzarella was authentic (remember, we are Italian!) and the desserts were just right. They say everything happens for a reason and in this case, I think it was so that we could get your wonderful service and food and gracious attention to detail. Dear Ms. Collin; I hope that you will pass along my highest compliments to your chef(s) and catering staff who prepared and served such a stunning buffet for Spirit of Toronto. With the emphasis on the whisky, much of it otherwise inaccessible to many of the attendees, it is very difficult for food choices to compete. In the last two years in particular, although I certainly remember the whiskies I sampled, I find that it is the food that your team has prepared which is the subject of conversation for weeks on end. I recall my partner saying this year, "I hope they bring back those Yorkshire pudding and roast beef cups..." and you most certainly did not disappoint. The pears (poached?) prepared with Goldschlager and served with the warmed brie in phyllo pastry were absolutely brilliant, and the highlight of a wonderful sampling of food to compliment the whiskies. My one regret is that I live in London, Ontario and will have to wait until next year to enjoy your food again. I will definitely recommend you to my friends who live in Toronto and those who are planning an event in Toronto. April 2010
Dear Laura, That lamb absolutely melted in my mouth! It was to die for. The catering of the RCI Gala Dinner held at MaRS on Thursday April 22nd was exceptional. When we asked you to create an elegant “Comfort Food” menu on a limited budget, I was worried that we would sacrifice something. But boy was I wrong. As I watched the service staff collect plates from all three courses, they had been scraped clean. And as the feedback comes in the common theme is how tremendous the food was. I can't tell you how many people raved about the food at the event and the response since then has been incredible. From the begining of our planning stages through budget revisions to the tasting and finally, execution, you have gone out of your way to accommodate us and make our event the best possible. I thought that it would be a challange to create a cocktail menu that showcased Ontario to the guests, was delicious and satisfying, but somehow you managed. There was a Friday evening barbeque in the garden, a lunch before the wedding, a reception at the wedding on Saturday and a brunch on Sunday in the gareden. In the middle of the wedding ceremony there was a tremendous downpour of rain and thunder and all of the guests had to be moved from the lawn to the tent. During all the events the entire staff was incredible, discrete and more than helpful and kind. The decor was beautiful and the food was outstanding. I want to comend to you your wait staff who was unbelievable and your Chef's, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Most of all I want to write to you about Jake Curl. You have a very special employee in this man. We have been working on this event since March. Jake has been enthusiatic and joyful and helpful throughout. What was truly special though, was the fact that I requested French speaking staff because my children speak French. Micheline was wonderful - my children loved the fact that they could converse with her. We always use Daniel et Daniel whether we order cakes for birthdays or have catered parties - this is a habit we will not break!
