The St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts opened doors to two auditoriums, in 1970. In the 1980s both spaces were renovated and renamed for the generous support of the late Mrs. Bluma Appel and in commemoration of Jane Mallett’s life and accomplishments. The Centre has again gone through a renovation that has helped to modernize the space, increase the enjoyment for patrons, while still respecting the original design of the building allowing the Centre to continue to take a leadership role in providing its visitors with high quality cultural, artistic and public events.
The Rehearsal Hall is located on the lower level of the St. Lawrence Centre and is approximately 1,200 square feet with a sprung floor. With washrooms nearby, tables and chairs available if required, mirrors along the wall, and a piano this space is an affordable rehearsal space, close to public transit.
The Bluma Appel Theatre is a 868 seat theatre featuring a proscenium stage with state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment.
A slightly smaller theatre, the Jane Mallett Theatre seats 497 and offers an intimate environment with superior sight lines and acoustics.
The Lobbies are spacious and offer the perfect space for pre and post show cocktail receptions, or break out meals and sit down dinners.
