Regent Park was Canada’s first social housing project. Designed in the late 1940s as a garden city of walkways and park spaces, the neighbourhood and its residents were isolated from the surrounding city. In the early 2000s, the City of Toronto and Toronto Community Housing proposed a revitalization plan that included both rent-geared-to-income and market units, creating a socially and economically integrated community. Over the next 10 to 15 years, this 69 acre area will house 12,500 people, 3,000 commercial units and has already created 465 jobs for local residents.

Ada Slaight Hall, The Courtyard, Artscape Lounge

A terrific meeting and event space designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects, features a large performance and event space that can accommodate up to 400 seats and is equipped with a complete sound and lighting system. The rental of the Ada Slaight Hall can include access to a box office, dressing rooms, a green room and a kitchen and the event space can also be divided into three smaller rooms. The Courtyard is an outdoor space with a raised wooden stage. It can be rented alone, or in conjunction with the Ada Slaight Hall and is able to support sound and lighting systems. The Artscape Lounge is bright and colourful and has a fully equipped café bar. Once again, this space can be rented alone or with the Ada Slaight Hall and works well for small performances, art exhibits, meetings, and receptions.
