The ASAE holds an annual conference at different locations every year. This year, timed with Canada’s 150th Anniversary, the ASAE selected Toronto to host their event. With over 2,000 planned international attendees, we wanted to give ASAE members a truly Canadian culinary experience.

With Canada’s birthday around the corner, Toronto’s catering scene has seen a surge in Canadian inspired menus. From creative dishes featuring Canadian ingredients to new spins on staple foods, we found that patriotic dishes are trending this summer.
Our Home and Native Land has inspired us to share five of our favourite truly Canadian inspired hors d’oeuvres that have made waves on this summer’s hottest event and wedding menus.

We cater weddings all around Toronto and each one is unique and special for its own reasons. What made this particular Toronto wedding special for us was that it was for our very own sous-chef Hillary Brown and her husband Carmel Joseph Cuschieri.
Steam Whistle weddings are gorgeous. The indoor and outdoor spaces work perfectly for both rustic and chic weddings. The Beer Hall alone can entertain anywhere between 250 to 500 guest depending on if you do a sit down or reception. You don’t need a large group to get married there, Steam Whistle Brewing is happy to entertain groups as small as 30. Hillary and Carmel Joseph’s wedding was for 120 invitees.

The Design Exchange has been ground zero for countless spectacular events over the years. Bursting forth from the former home of the Toronto Stock Exchange, it has been a significant host to Toronto’s event scene for two decades, setting the scene for myriad weddings, corporate events and fundraising galas. The interior of the former Stock Exchange is beautifully dramatic in its own right, but for a yearly recurring event we knew it was essential to provide an element of surprise.

For the Salvage event at Metropolis we pulled out one of our newest desserts: Chocolate Pudding with Smoked Whipped Cream and Toffee Crunch. That’s right, smoked whipped cream. It was a hit at the event and now we’re eager to show you how it’s done.
